Quench Tower
High-strength sulphur dioxide gas exits the sulphur furnace at approximately 1200°C. The quench tower system rapidly cools the gas to 30-60°C before it enters downstream processes. While a waste heat boiler is often used as a first cooling step, the quench tower remains essential for the final temperature reduction of around 300°C.
