Crystalline Nanocellulose™ (CNC)
In the production of crystalline nanocellulose, the high acid use due to the large volume of raw material, results in increased recycling costs. Traditional methods, such as dialysis, are commonly used to purify crystalline nanocellulose, but this entails high expenses and significant water consumption.
Noram has developed an enhanced method for manufacturing crystalline nanocellulose, including a continuous process where the raw material is compressed. This results in a reduction of acid usage by two-thirds compared to previously applied processes, resulting in substantial cost savings. Moreover, our solution cuts the water consumption by 80% with our use of electrodialysis in conjunction with ion exchange resins during the purification process.
